InactiveHello staff of 2010! I can’t wait to spend another summer in the Heart of the Wooded mountain with you! Here’s a little blurb about me:
\n
\nI’m currently 28. I’m originally from Maryland – both the suburbs of Baltimore and then the boonies of Western MD. I came to this area to complete my psychology degree at UNCA. It took me a LONG time to get my bachelors’ because I love school…and I also love traveling and learning in other ways. I have studied with different survival teachers like Tom Brown and also worked with a wilderness therapy program before I got into summer camps.
\n
\nMy background in outdoor skills (and some good luck) is actually how I ended up here in 2007, as adventure staff. After I graduated, I came on full-time as the staff director. I live in the red house by staff parking during the off-season, and up in FBI (behind pottery) during the summer.
\n
\nAside from being someone you can bounce ideas around with and basically your main support person, I also teach yoga and lead some hikes in the summer. I’m really into edible/medicinal plants, too. The woods around here are so lush. I can’t wait!
\n
\nI’m looking forward to seeing returning campers and meeting new ones – we have great, quirky, ridiculously, adorable campers that go here! It’s neat to watch them learn new things and just get to know them.
\n
\nDuring the off-season, Charlotte, Mandy and I coach an after-school fitness/self-esteem program for elementary-aged girls. I also help out with the youth at my church. On the weekends, I sometimes work in a halfway house with adults who have mental illnesses and substance abuse issues. Currently, my above-mentioned coworkers and I are training for a sprint triathlon (The Rockbrook Runners totally inspired me last year)!
\n
\nShew! If you are still reading this, bless you.
\n
\nHere’s to another great summer! -

InactiveHello everyone!
\n
\nI can’t wait to meet you all. Jessi has been telling all of the rest of us in the office how fantastic you all are! We are going to have a blast this summer, and I can’t wait to get started.
\n
\nHere’s a little more about me… I’m 26, and I grew up in Georgia and started at Rockbrook in 1993 as a Junior camper. I became addicted and haven’t ever left! Now, I am the Program Director. My favorite camp activities are any of the crafts, riflery and archery. I graduated from Georgia Tech… GO YELLOW JACKETS! I have a new love of running, as mentioned by Jessi. I also coach a little league softball team (The Bees!). And I love living in Brevard. It’s a great town, and you will love it this summer.
\n
\nDuring the summer, you will see me doing all kinds of crazy camp things… dressing up in 80s attire, driving the camp bus, doing announcements, organizing special events, scheduling activities and the calendar, running around camp, chatting with parents, etc… Feel free to come find me with any questions. I live in the other side of FBI with Jessi. Then, during the off-season, I travel around showing the camp movie to interested families, planning out the summer schedule, ordering supplies and camp gear, and assisting in getting our fun campers registered.
\n
\nSee you all soon! -

InactiveHi everyone!!
\n
\nabout me… Im 18 and a Frosh at UTK! but only for 4 1/2 more weeks!! I have 2 older sisters LeAnn 21 and Natasha 20. My family is a bunch of crazy people but we never have a dull moment. My favorite memory of my family is the time when everyone (grandparents, dad, mom, sisters) dressed up for a Luau family pary…. we were all wearing coconuts and grass skirts and attempting to dance while my grandfather was yelling ALOHA ALOHA!
haha! next subject!!…This is going to be my first summer at any kind of overnight camp!!!!! crazy awesome!! im so excited! I’m orginally from Cocoa Beach Florida then my parents moved to Tennessee
so sad. I don’t really like Tennessee weather. However, the good part about Tennesse is my amazing school (GO VOLS!!). I am a kinesiology major and hopefully graduating in 2 years and going to a physical therapy school! My favorite things to do in my spare time are play soccer, ultimate, BANNAGRAMS!!, hike, swim, canoe, run, and just be goofy! I really hope i get to try something new this summer (besides going to a camp). I love learning and trying new things cause thats what makes life interesting to me! I don’t really know what else to say…. My least favorite class of all time is english so… if grammar is bad or something is spelled wrong… sorry
Im always open for questions also so ask me anything!! -

InactiveHey ya’ll!!!
\n
\nI am super pumped for camp this year woot woot! I am 19 (turning 20 in May before camp starts) and a sophomore at Wake Forest. I am majoring in Mathematical Business and minoring in Anthropology. This fall I am studying abroad in Florence, for which I am super pumped.
\n
\nThis is actually my 12th summer at RBC, my first year as a junior was in 1999. I am looking forward to being the midder line head for first and second sessions! Last summer, and this upcomming one, you will be able to find me at the Lake. It will take some getting used to the water temperature, I’ve been working at a nice, warm, indoor pool all year.
\n
\nOther campy things that I love/am looking forward to: rafting, campfires, dressing up in costumes every day, Counselor Hunt (I bought an all cameo outfit for this). I can’t wait to meet all the new staff, and am excited to see all of my old friends. If you are new to the staff, feel free to ask me any questions, I would like to think I know almost everything about RBC.
\n
\nPlease friend me on facebook! -

InactiveHELLOO PARTY PEOPLE. this fancy new website gave me a little trouble and i may or may not have made two profiles…my b, my b.
\n
\nWHAT IS UP. my name is (catherine) frampton and i am, as usual, freakishly excited to come back to camp. this will be my fourth heavenly summer at rockbrook. it just keeps getting better.
\n
\ni’m a junior anthropology major, women’s studies minor at the university of the south in sewanee, tn (kiersten! we’re super close!). i am o-b-s-e-s-s-e-d with my school and can’t believe that my time here is quickly coming to a close. i spent last semester studying abroad in india which, unsurprisingly, was an unbelievably valuable experience. i used to play lots of soccer, but my activity level has hit an all time low due to the fact that i now have the physical prowess of a 92 year old, so now i indulge almost exclusively in arts and crafts and friend-making. however, i do loooove dancing, and i’m particularly great at sweating.
\n
\ni can’t wait to romp around camp. i’m most looking forward to singing at meals (duh), wandering down to the archery range to channel my inner sagittarius, hanging with the coolest campers in brevard, and getting to know the new staff through dancing and/or bird and a perch (best mixer EVER).
\n
\nalright. this intro has turned into a small book. along with katie, i’m more than happy to answer any questions. hit me up! i can’t wait to see everybody SOON!
\n
\nps.com: katie estes– i can’t wait for you to see my cameo jumpsuit. believe it. -

InactiveHey girls! My name is Meg Ammons and I am from Richmond, Virginia. I’m currently a freshman at James Madison University (it’s kind of in Northwestern Virginia about 20 minutes from the West Virginia border). I LOVE it there. GO DUKES! I have a lot of school spirit, I always have. I originally started off as a theatre performance/directing major, but switched over to elementary education and I am very happy with my decision

\n
\nI love to sing and dance and be weird (the word weird to me is a compliment… I take it to mean interesting haha). I come from a family where my dad is a minister in the Army and my mom is a nurse, so I enjoy lightening the mood when things are getting sluggish or down
\n
\nAs for camp. I have been to camp for several years in Virginia, but this is my FIRST year at Rockbrook. I am so stinkin’ excited to meet all of you and get to know you all better
I’m an open book, so please, feel free to ask away! -

Jeff CarterKeymasterWho’s that guy? It’s Jeff! He’s Sarah’s husband.
\n
\nSo how does a guy end up at Rockbrook Camp for Girls?
\n
\nAfter graduating from Davidson and teaching high school for 3 years in Athens, GA (Athens Academy), I first came to Rockbrook in 1988 to be the hiking and climbing guide. At the time, I was just starting graduate school, so taking outdoor trips at camp was a nice way to earn some money for school, and as it turned out, a nice break between all those years in Boston and Chicago (nine in all… yikes!). I really enjoyed being at Rockbrook and came back just about every summer, though I took a couple of them off to do research in Nigeria.
\n
\nOne unusual thing about my RBC history is that I met my wife Sarah here. She too worked many summers at camp, and over the years we got to know each other. As those things sometimes go, and after dating (long distance!) for 4 years, we got married at Rockbrook in August, 1996. We had the ceremony in the upper hillside lodge, and the reception in the dining hall. Maybe I’ll dig up a photo of that weekend. It was great fun having our friends stay at camp.
\n
\nBefore becoming one of the RBC directors, I was a college professor who taught Anthropology and Comparative Religions courses. That’s what you’re supposed to do when you finish a Ph.D. I taught at Vanderbilt, Davidson and the University of South Carolina. So if you’re interested in that kind of stuff, we should talk!
\n
\nThen in 2000 Sarah and I moved to Brevard to start the Castle Rock Institute at camp. Jerry Stone (the previous owner and director of camp) and I had an idea to create an outdoor education program for college students where they would come to camp for a semester, take four humanities courses, and go on tons of adventure trips… even to Australia and New Zealand. http://www.castle-rock.org
\n
\nSarah and I became the directors at Rockbrook in 2006, so this will be our 5th year in that role, even though we started working here back in the 80s!
\n
\nI am also a lucky Dad for two girls: Eva (7) and Lily (3). If you haven’t met them, you will this summer! I put a couple of photos of them in my album. They are awesome fun kids, so I hope you enjoy getting to know them.
\n
\nEvery summer I look forward to camp starting up. It’s such a nice change from “ordinary life.” Being outside most of the time, staying really active, hanging out with super enthusiastic people (kids and staff!), all the special fun events—it’s really a great thing. It will be great to see you back at camp, and if you’re new this summer, I look forward to meeting you. -

InactiveWell hello everyone words can not explain how seriously pumped I am to be coming back to camp for my 8th year!!!! I’m so excited!!! My name is Elizabeth Patten some people call me Patten some call me Elizabeth. Frampton when she was my counselor she called me Evening Program hence the initials its also one of my favorite times of the day. I love singing at meals I’m extremely loud but not as much as Frampton….she is the queen of singing. Last year I taught Hodge Podge and I loved it I tie dye on a regular basis…sometimes
. When I was a camper my favorite activities were riflery and pottery!
\n
\nRight now I am a senior at Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Kentucky! I can’t wait to graduate. In the fall I will be attending the University of Kentucky and majoring in BioTech/Biology! Last year I was offered a full ride to be on the UK rifle team (we are pretty good we finished 4th in the NCAA championships!) but I haven’t decided yet! I am obsessed with UK Basketball I live right down the street from UK so yes the games are crazy! I LOVE MY C-A-T-S CATS CATS CATS!!! (sorry Alexa!)

InactiveHerooo! My name is Michelle Batlle and I absofruitly cannot WAIT for Rockbrook Summer Twenty-Ten. Coincidentally, this will be my tenth summer in the Heart of the wooded mountains, and I couldn’t be more excited. I am 19 years old, so yes that means that after this summer I will have gone to camp for more than half of my life!!! teeee

\n
\nI call Kansas City home, but I am originally from New Orleans. I have an older sister and a younger brother, which makes me a middle child and I (secretly) embrace it!! I am currently a freshman at Stanford University and I LOVE living in California. I plan on majoring in Human Biology with a concentration on human development…I think
As far as outside activities go, I’m on the freshmen student council and I play on the club lacrosse team as well several other rando pick-up intramural sports. Point blank, I love staying active, though I do enjoy those rare occasions when I can just relax.
\n
\nI’m obnoxiously loud, I love to laugh a ridiculous amount, and Rockbrook is undoubtedly my home away from home. Feel free to friend my on facebook and/or ask me anything regarding camp or anything else! One of my favorite hobbies is making new friends, so please don’t hesitate!!
\n

InactiveHey there Rockbrookers!
\nMy name is Christine Alexander and I am a sophomore majoring in Theater at The George Washington University in DC. I am originally from Atlanta, GA, so yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the snowmageddon we had here in February!!!
\nI will be returning to the glorious mountains of western North Caroline for the 16th summer of my 20 year life. Yes, that’s right, I will have missed 16 out of 20 Father’s Days, and somehow my daddy still loves me
Perhaps it’s got something to do with the kickin’ hand crafted Father’s Day gifts he always got from my sister and me when we came back from camp! A favorite of mine was the bookmark with pressed flowers…ah the Nature Nook.
\nAnywho, I will be at camp for first and second sessions this summer, serving as linehead of the mighty junior line for the 2nd. I teach canoeing and kayaking, but I am a huge fan of basically every other activity at RBC (especially climbing with the Climbing Heros!). Over the years I have developed some favorites about camp that I like to reflect on throughout the year, and I think this is the perfect time to share those things:
\n(in no particular order)
\n1. Teaching girls how to kayak and helping them conquer their fears. It’s basically the best feeling in the world.
\n2. Grilled cheese and tomato soup.
\n3. Singing at meals. I get waaay into it. Like, whoa.
\n4. Visiting waterfalls on leave (BGB style!!!!)
\n5. New friends new friends new friends new friends!
\nThat being said, please please please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have about camp as a newcomer. I am willing and able to share a wealth of Rockbrook knowledge with you. It’s like a treasure trove in my brain. A really fun, outdoorsy treasure trove…in the heart of a wooded mountain, circled by silvery streams.
\nAlright. It’s really late and I should be studying for a French quiz. Or sleeping.
\nObviously camp comes first.
\nI can’t wait to hear from everyone! -

InactiveHeyaaa new friends!
\n
\nMy name is Grayson and I’m finishing up my freshman year at App. I’m studying Sustainable Development and it’s awesome in the greatest sense of the word- ask me about it sometime! I met Jessi at App’s Outdoor Jobs Fair and I think dragging myself to the student union on that cold and nasty day was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! This will be my first summer working at Rockbrook and I can’t describe to you how pumped I am- I can’t wait to be outdoors all summer, especially in the mountains. And of course I’m dying to meet all you wacky folks!
\n
\nSome more about me…. you can call me Gray or Gracie, anything goes. I have two sisters and I graduated from Saint Mary’s School in Raleigh. Needless to say, I’m used to being surrounded by girls and I know how powerful and wonderful of an experience it is. I like artsy craftsy things, especially making jewelry and tiedyeing, eating apples and s’mores, laying in my hammock, meeting new people, going for walks and hikes, cooking, laughing, listening to music (I’ve always been into jammy bands and bluegrass), and photography.
\n
\nI really, really, REALLY can’t wait to start my first summer working at Rockbrook! I’m counting down the days until I can move up to Brevard and get to know you! -

InactiveHola, everyone! My name is Beth and this will be my seventh summer working at Rockbrook! I’ll be there for the mini-session during 3rd session and am already looking forward to it!
\n
\nI’ve always wanted to be a camp counselor, so waaaay back in 2003 I started looking for a camp that was amazing as my childhood camp and found Rockbrook via the internet. It is truly the best place to be – for campers and counselors! I did 3 full summers while I was in college and have been privileged to be able to come back for a little bit of summer-love since then as well. I started on the junior line, but it turns out my passion is Middlers. I’ve also been fortunate to be able to have CA’s and HUPs – and have an equal passion for that age group as well! (I have truly been on every single line as a counselor!)
\n
\nI typically teach Archery, but I’ve also helped with Folklore (now defunct), Journalism and Riflery. I’m a fan of announcement time, singing Smile Pep at any opportunity in the dining hall, and Birthday Night. I also enjoy Counselor Hunt and have special camo clothes for it!
\n
\nSome non-camp info: I am 27, a graduate of the University of Georgia with degrees in Sociology & History, an alum of Alpha Phi Omega, a nanny, and an enthusiastic amateur photographer. I studied abroad in Leicester, England while I was in undergrad and then lived in Cambridge, England for 6 months after I graduated. I grew up the suburbs of Atlanta, Ga – Acworth/Kennesaw to be specific. I have one sister, one brother-in-law and a nephew-dog. I lived in New Orleans from 2006-2008 and have lots of family there, so I visit as often as possible. (WHO DAT?!)
\n
\nI’m super excited about another summer at Rockbrook and am happy to answer questions that anyone has, just like Katie, Christine, Michelle, and Frampton. -

InactiveHey everybody! My name is Kailana (a weird Hawaiian name) but everybody calls me Nani (pronounced like nah-nee). I’m from Nashville, TN and this will be my first summer working at Rockbrook, as well as my first summer going to sleepaway camp! I can’t wait; my best friend Mary-also working as a counselor this summer- is a lifelong Rockbrooker, and I’ve heard nothing but great things.
\n
\nA little info about me: I’m a freshman at Bowdoin College, a small liberal arts school up in Brunswick, Maine. I’m totally excited to be back in the good ole South for the summer. I have two sisters and a pretty spunky dog, and I love listening to music, reading/writing, and being outside, especially anything to do with swimming. I hope that I can get good at making friendship bracelets and killing spiders this summer- those are two life lessons that I feel like I need to learn:)
\n
\nI’ve been a lifeguard for the past three summers at the Nashville YMCA, but I really wanted to do something fulfilling this summer, so I can’t wait to get out to Brevard and have my first Rockbrook experience! I can’t wait to meet everybody- see you in June! -

InactiveHello Ladies! This is so fun to see all of these amazing people who are going to be joining us here at good ol’ RBC in just a couple of months. If you’re new to our camp gang, welcome! It’s a un-matched experience, fun, zany, exhausting, and hard to describe. You just gotta go through it.
\n
\nAllow me to introduce myself – I am Sarah Reed Carter. You’ve already had a chance to read about my husband Jeff earlier. He and I are the directors here at Rockbrook and as you can guess, it’s a big part of our lives. My story in a nutshell is that I started as a CIT in 1985, terrified of the idea of camp. I took the leap, gave it a try, and loved it. I was a counselor for about 9 summers in a row. Then I switched gears and became a teacher, mom, and preschool director. Jeff and I returned to RBC in 2006 as directors, and we bought the camp in 2008.
\n
\nOwning Rockbrook has been so much fun and given us the chance to meet so many wonderful people. And to watch them grow and change is even more fascinating. I’ve been around Rockbrook long enough that some of my co-counselors back in the day now have daughters who are campers!
\n
\nOur own two daughters love Rockbrook too. Eva (age 7) wants to know everything about it, from the most obscure song to what the Hi-Up cabin really looks like inside. (She’s never been in it, even in the winter!) Lily (age 3) loves the attention from the counselors and throwing rocks in the stream. You’ll see them wandering around camp a lot.
\n
\nSo, keep talking and let us know more about all of you. Can’t wait to meet or reunite with all of you face to face! -

InactiveHello, everyone! My name is Haley Hudler. I am 18 years old, and originally from Fort Myers, Florida. Now I am a freshman at Denison University, a small liberal arts college in Ohio. I’m a Political Science and English double major, and I hope to eventually attend law school. I am also a member of Delta Gamma (a sorority), and am involved in various nerdy law-and-politics-related activities on campus.
\nThis will be my eighth summer at Rockbrook, and I can’t wait for it to begin! To the returners—to quote Miley Cyrus, an eminent presence at RBC, “I can’t wait to see you again.” To the newcomers—I’m so excited to meet you! Please add me on facebook.
\nSome fun facts about me:
\nI used to fence. I am a certified Harry Potter expert. I have an unhealthy obsession with J. Crew; if anyone wants to go to the distribution center on leave, I will SO take you there in my minivan. I originally decided to come to Rockbrook because I wanted to find my secret twin like Lindsey Lohan did in “The Parent Trap.” Needless to say, I didn’t find one, but I fell in love with camp. My favorite camp song is “Prunie.” I fell in the lake during Spirit Fire when I was a Middler. I teach riflery. I LOVE CAMP! -

InactiveHey y’all! My name is Katherine Golemi. I’m 19 and from New Orleans, LA. I’m currently living in Baton Rouge, LA and am Junior at LSU majoring in Elementary Education, which I adore. I’ve never been to a sleepaway camp, so this will be my first summer at Rockbrook AND at camp. I love singing and laughing and reading and being outside! I’m a pretty big book nerd and an avid football fan (Who Dat!). I’ll be at RBC for the second mini-session in July. I’m super excited and can’t wait to meet all of you wonderful people.

InactiveHEY! My name is Grace Wallace, and I am so. unbelievably. excited. to be coming back to RBC this summer! Ok, I know all you RBC lifers are now looking at my name going “huh? this girl? there’s never been a ‘Grace Wallace’ at Rockbrook in my time, are they hiring crazy people now?” And, technically, you’re right. I came to Rockbrook for three summers WAY back in the day, but had to stop after 6th grade when my parents decided to craft me into a little-miss-smarty-pants by sending me off to academic camps. Yeah. Downgrade. Anyway, back then I wasn’t technically “Grace,” I was “Elisabeth Grace” (a nice, southern, double name) but if that doesn’t ring any bells either then just check your camp pictures for a total tomboy with a terrible haircut, and a giant smile with dimples and pre-braces gappy teeth… There I am!
\n
\nAnyway, I am 19 years old, and a sophomore at the University of Michigan, once the football powerhouse of the midwest… now just a place with a stadium that can fit 110,000 very sad fans. I’m originally from Jackson, Mississippi, and I cling to my Southern roots with a death-grip when I’m up here. I make people very confused/nervous when I insist on saying “y’all” in everyday conversations. Incidentally, coming to school up here was part of the reason I’m not “Elisabeth Grace” anymore… try explaining the concept of a double name to someone from Michigan and you’ll understand why. What else, what else…. I have three older sisters (one of which also came to RBC), I plan to study abroad in Florence, Italy next year, I lovelovelove singing while eating and think it should be a common practice throughout the world (although I’d settle for the continental US), half of my trunk when I arrive at camp will probably be filled with books, aaaand every summer I spend a week working (ok, playing) with kids in Honduras so I’m really looking forward to working (ok, playing) with kids who can actually understand what I’m saying this year!
\n
\nThat’s all I can think of at the moment, but please everyone feel free to friend me on facebook (nothing like feeling cyber-popular), and I can’t wait to meet everyone this summer!!

InactiveHey hey! My name is Cydney. Well, my real name is Jessica, but my parents decided to call me by my middle name and make life a little more interesting for me. I’m new to Rockbrook, and super excited for this summer!
\n
\nTo be honest, I’m new to camp. I went to a full day of camp after sixth grade, but my appendix ruptured that afternoon. I was scared of camp for a few years after that… Needless to say, I cannot WAIT to go to camp!
\n
\nI’m 19 and a sophomore at UNC (GO HEELS!!!). Both my parents went here, too, so I was born and raised a Tar Heel. My family is huge and close, so most of my summers were kind of like camp… I’m the oldest of eight cousins. Love my family! I’m majoring in journalism and international studies. At one point, I wanted to be a physicist, a foreign diplomat (preferably to Argentina), an actor… but now I’m thinking reporter or anchor for tv and radio. We’ll see what I think after this summer… (: I do a lot (and by a lot, I mean a ridiculous amount) of theatre. It’s more likely that you’ll catch me in rehearsals than that you’ll find me doing homework (just kidding, Mom) — so I’m loud and silly and goofy, but I tone it down when I need to.
\n
\nCan’t wait to meet everyone!! Friend me on Facebook — as of a month ago, I knew no one at Rockbrook, and am looking forward to changing that! -

InactiveHey, I’m Rachel…some people call me Ray or Raych and other variations of that sort. I am 17, turing 18 this November (yay!) I am very excited to for this upcoming year.
\nThis is my 4th year at RBC but I haven’t been there for 5 or maybe 6 years! I was borned in Atlanta GA, moved to Charlotte NC, and now I live in Asheville NC. I like it here but also very much enjoy traveling the world.
\nLet’s see… I am in band, play the trumpet, and love music in general. I will start my senior year of high school next year…I have no clue where I want to go to college, and I am thinking about taking a year off of school to travel a bit in rural countries and volunteer.
\nOk, so I am outdoorsy, but I also read a whole bunch. I love rafting and recently started learning kayaking. I like any water activity, hiking, photography, and any arts and crafts. I am terrible at sports though, such as softball or tennis… probably because when I was young, I had a friend “accidently” smack me with every type of ball there is.
\nI am unable to think up more facts about me at the moment…most will come to me when I turn the computer off. So you can ask me questions..
\nP.S. I am the world’s worst speller, please ignore my mistakes. haha -

InactiveHey y’all! I’m Elizabeth Fowlkes and I am from Oxford, Mississippi (Hotty Toddy!) where I am a senior in high school. What then 20-10. Haha, Next year I’m going to Auburn and I plan major in Communications and Public Relations. War Eagle! I want to be a wedding planner when I grow up.I love everything about weddings and organizing fun events.I also love playing dress up, so I am ready for camp! I work as an event photographer for a local magazine called Invitation Oxford. It is a blast! I love photography. Not deep artsy photography because I have no skill, but just taking pictures of friends together and capturing fun moments.
\nI have had the privilege of spending 7 wonderful years at Rockbrook and I could not be more excited for this summer! Although I’ve always attended second session, I will be working first session this year, and I can’t wait! I will be lifeguarding and teaching swimming. I’m very excited to meet everyone!! Oh, and I really like to make connections with people about all of our mutual friends, so I always ask people alot of questions when I first meet them. -

InactiveHello! My name is Gabby Esposito and I live in Prospect KY. I will be working first and second session in “the heart of a wooded mountain” and I am very excited. Sorry about the lack of picture; I will try and upload a new photograph because I recently cut about 7 inches off of my hair, so my old pictures look a little different from my current state. I am 18 years old, and next year I will be attending Georgia Tech for a polymer engineering degree. I like running on trails and in road races, and I recently ran a ten mile race in Louisville. I also like hiking, backpacking, reading about string theory and m theory, playing african drums, watching Jeopardy! and looking at star constellations. I look foward to meeting all of you this summer!

InactiveHello Rockbrookers!
\n
\nMy name is Charlotte Page and I am another one of the year round folks here at RBC. My official title is Associate Director, but I also serve as the Parent Liaison during the summer as well as bus driver, office lady, occasional videographer, and campminder specialist! I love being back at Rockbrook full time- it is a super special place and I know we are all going to have a wonderful summer together.
\n
\nMy Rockbrook career began in 1980 as a camper. I continued on as a staff member, line head, program director and then worked as a Co-Director for about 9 years. In 2006 I became certified as a Therapeutic Riding Instructor, so I took a break from camp and spent a few years working at a riding center here in Brevard. In 2007, I was lucky enough to return to RBC, and now here I am back on board full time. Hooray!
\n
\nI grew up in Columbus, GA and got my BA from Converse College in Spartanburg, SC. I lived in Colorado and Atlanta before settling in to life in Brevard which I love. I have a super cool and rugged poodle named Henry and my hobbies include running, triathlon, and generally playing outside in the dirt. I have a nick- name contest going with Mandy, so feel free to call me any version of my name that you would like. (I’m gonna win Mandy!)
\n
\nSo… that’s all for now- I can not wait to meet you all and enjoy a wonderful summer “in the heart of a wooded mountain” with you.
\n
\nCheers,
\nChar Char -

InactiveRockbrook! What it do? My name is Chase Nelson and I am from the coolest place on the globe–Brevard! However, I go to the University of Tennessee. I’m 19 (nearly 20, so close, kind of) and I’m a sophomore. Kiersten and I are both putting on for the Vols! Anyways, my major is Global Studies, and my minor is Elementary Education. I went to Rockbrook from 2000-2007 and stopped the summer after my hi-up year (so amazing). So this is my first year as a counselor and I’m not sure that I’ve ever been more excited (except for when Justin Bieber’s My World 2.0 came out in March). I love sports and the outdoors. Hiking and camping are among my favorite activities. I went to first session–cause it’s the best, but this year I can only come for third. Sad day, but I’m thrilled. Besides Rockbrook, I will be working at Rocky’s in downtown Brevard all summer (with my girl AP) so come visit me on leave! I am an aspiring rapper. I love to travel. I love to learn new things and meeting new people is probably my favorite pasttime. I was so lucky to meet the friends that I did at Rockbrook. We’re still BFFL. Isn’t that the best?! Can we imagine what this summer has in store for us? Singing, muffins, costumes, dance parties. It’s all too much. Blown away. Anyways, I really am thrilled to meet all of you and find out more about everyone!
\nIn the famous words of the rapper Wacka Flocka Flames…”Oh, Lets do it.”
\nSo excited.

InactiveHey y’all! I’m Katherine Prince…some call me KPrince or Kat…it’s all good. I am 22 years old and from Carrollton, Ga which is about 1 hour west of Atlanta. I just transferred from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN to the University of West Georgia here in Carrollton. I am pursuing an art degree there and will hopefully move on to get a master’s in art therapy. I discovered my passion for art as a child but fully recognized its effect on me not that long ago after beginning college. I more specifically discovered my interest in art therapy after volunteering at St. Jude’s Cancer Research Hospital in Memphis for the past 3 years as a “Happy Cart” volunteer which consisted of taking a brightly-colored cart with smiles all over it to all of the patients, their parents, and their siblings currently in the hospital with lots of choices of fun crafty things they could enjoy while at the hospital. It was honestly one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had the pleasure of participating in.
\n
\nOther than that, I absolutely adore my dog Gracie. She is truly the love of my life and I am nothing short of a mother to her. Leaving her behind will be the ONLY thing I am not looking forward to about leaving for camp. She is a JackRat (jack russel and rat terrier mix) and the runt of her litter. Quite a diva as well. I’m sure you all will hear more than you would like to about her by the end of camp! I have never been to Rockbrook before much less work there. I cannot wait to meet everyone and start all the fun!

InactiveHello all! I’m Brett Powell! I am a 19 year old from the small town of Griffin, Georgia and am just finishing up my freshman year at the wonderful University of Georgia! GO DAWGS! I’m representing here because I saw some love for the Vols goin’ on a few posts before me
Anywho, I’m a Chi O majoring in Biological Sciences who loves being outside on a sunny day and is constantly surrounded by people. Making people smile is probably my most favorite thing to do, so I’ll goto extremes to get a laugh out of you, even if that means I have to act a little cray cray. This is my first time EVA coming to camp as I was one of those kids that missed out on the crazy awesome summer camp experiences, so needless to say I’m extremely pumped about coming to Rockbrook and meeting all of you. It’s going to be excellent.
\nI’m counting down the days.

InactiveHey girls (and Jeff of course)! I feel like I’m a little behind with my introduction but I had trouble figuring out this site… sad, I know. BUT I’m Allie Perkins and I am from Brevard, the wonderful town where we will be spending our summer:) I absolutely LOVE everything about it! I am 18 years old, but will be 19 at camp, and I am finishing up my freshman year at Clemson University! GO TIGERS!
I am a Chi O and am currently majoring in marketing (hopefully I stick with it.) I love meeting new people and having a good time! My favorite hobbies are pretty much anything outside as long as the sun is shining:) and I love to play soccer and volleyball. I can’t wait to return to camp this year! I haven’t been back since my hi-up year so I’m super excited to be a counselor! I was a camper for 8 years, and I loved every minute of it! As Chase said, she and I will be working at Rocky’s this summer before third session so you all should definitely come see us on leave! I can’t wait to meet all of you and to be at camp! It’s going to be a great time!

InactiveHey everyone!
\nI’m Callie Almond and this will be my 6th summer at RBC. I’m 23 and I graduated from Emory & Henry College with degrees in Theatre and Secondary English Education. I have taught 9th grade English and Drama for the past year and have really appreciated all the things I learned at RBC that help with teaching. I have been engaged to a guy named Keegan for two years.
\nI started coming to camp back in 2000 and stayed for 3 years as a camper. I returned to the heart of the wooded mountain in 2007 and 2008 as a counselor and was a CA counselor and Middler Line head. I love camp and am super excited to be returning this year! I’m hoping I get to help teach kayaking and drama at camp as those are two of my favorite areas. I love to meet new people and make friends. -

InactiveHEY THERE FUTURE FRIENDS!
\n
\nSo I seem to be tardy for this party, but it’s better late then never. My name is Aimee Lauren Johnson and this will be my 11th summer in the fairy land of beauty and I’m quite excited. I’m a senior at Tampa Preparatory School, home of the fighting turtles, where I play soccer and softball. I’m only 17 years old, but my RBC experience makes up for my lack of age.
\n
\nAlthough I’m a ginger, I enjoy being outside and doing outdoorsy things. (If at anytime you need some high SPF sunscreen, I got the hook up.) I am a member and co-founder of the Walkbrook Walkas, and LIVE for playing tetherball on the hill. I also love artsy things like photography, tie-dying, french braiding hair, face painting, hugging trees, and making friendship bracelets. My favorite camp song is ‘How Did We Come To Meet Pal’ because the lyrics are truly inspirational.
\n
\nThe past two summers I’ve taught photography with the Photo Phun Phamily and I’m hoping to teach it again this summer. Also, since I am an avid member in the Jazzercise community, I’m hoping to start an aerobics/dance party 101 activity at RBC this year.
\n
\nCan’t wait to play outside this summer with all of you! -

InactiveHey y’all.
\nMy name is Mallory and this will be my first summer working at Rockbrook. I can’t wait to meet you all in person. I went to school at UNC Asheville, graduating with a degree in mathematics. I studied mathematics in school but throughout my life I have studied a big variety of things. I love just about everything you name it, especially exploring the outdoors. At Rockbrook I will be taking girls out rock climbing, one of my favorite things to do. I can’t wait! It will be a blast! -

InactiveTally-ho!! I’m Savannah borned in raised in North Cackalacky. I’m a rising sophomore at Tulane Univeristy in N’awlins, Louisiana (proud to say I was here for the 2010 superbowl! Google: Savannah Tally Associated Press–> you’ll see my famous picture!). This will be my 10th summer here at Rockbrook and I’m so pumped (especially to get my necklace?!). I was always a camper during 1st session, but have worked staff the past 2 summers during 3rd. This year I’ll be doing 2nd and 3rd, totaling the longest time ever spent at RBC for me! I taught tennis the past two summers, and probably will be again. Can’t wait to meet all y’all and if you ever have a question about song lyrics-I’m your gal!

InactiveDear Fellow Children-at-Heart,
\nI hail from Columbus, GA, edumacate myself in Athens, GA, but I swear my heart is buried in North Carolina (perhaps circled by silvery streams, eh?). I am fond of adventure. (by “fond of” I really mean “addicted to”) I love pretty much all outdoorsy activities, reading, observing, kite flying, sidewalk chalk, cameras/photo editing, mountains, the absurdity, and you! Oh yeah, and Rockbrook is okay too.
(actually I can’t even kid about that – Rockbrook is AWESOME, in the traditional sense of the term) I am overflowing with anticipation of campers, counselors, adventure and songs at mealtime!!!
\nHappy Trails.
\nExcited to meet you.
\nLove, Michelle -

InactiveHello Everyone!
\n
\nMy name is Katherine and this will be my first year as a Rockbrook counselor…also my first time to North Carolina! I’m from Montana, or at least I have lived here since I was 5, so pretty much from MT. I am 19 and a freshman at Carroll College which is a small school in our state capital of Helena, but I’m actually from the much cooler town of Missoula about 2 hours west of here. I’m majoring in history but eventually want to go into anthropology to be an archaeologist. I love Montana and am so happy I got to grow up here. It’s definitely different than a lot of places in the US. Our population count for the entire state is still under a million! I spend pretty much all my time outdoors, no matter what the weather-that’s all there is to do here! I am really looking forward to camp and meeting everyone! I will be working all three sessions and I know it will be a blast!
\nSee you all soon!

InactiveHi there! My name is Edith.I thoroughly enjoy dinosaurs, which is off topic but true. I come from the small town of Genola, Utah. My family ran a dairy farm, which is a whole lot of fun sometimes. I’m 20 and I just finished my sophomore year at Brigham Young University, where I am majoring in elementary education with a TESOL minor. (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.) You may have guessed from my major what my intended career path is, and I bet you were right. I plan on being an elementary school teacher one day. This will be my first summer at Rockbrook, which excites me greatly. Also my first time in North Carolina, which may be a shock to my system having grown up in the desert. But I’m looking forward to this thing you call rain, as well as the rest of camp. I’m super excited, and I look forward to our meeting with great anticipation.
\nSee you soooon!!!

InactiveHelloooooo (intended to be spoken in a Mrs Doubtfire voice), I’m not sure why it has taken me so long to add my two cents here, but better late than never I suppose. My name is Briana. I’m 20 years old, from St. Petersburg, Florida (many of you may have grandparents who reside here, yes, I know). I just finished my second year at the University of Florida, where I’m studying economics and sustainability. I enjoy crafting!, reading, bicycling, otters, marine life, purple, good puns, and Thai food. This will be my 5th summer at Rockbrook and I couldn’t be more excited to return! InactiveHey Guys!
\nI’m Kendal and I’m 16 years old, almost 17. I’ve lived most of my life in Charlotte, NC, except for the three years I spent living in England when I was young. I’m going to be a senior next year at Charlotte Country Day School, where I’ve gone since kindergarten. I think this is going to be my 5th or 6th year at RBC, I can’t exactly remember because I haven’t been the past two summers, but I’m really excited to go back to camp this year as a CIT! I enjoy playing guitar, writing, watching movies, drawing, swimming, surfing, among other things.
\nI really look forward to seeing you guys at camp this summer!
