\nSlip on those sandals, slide on those sunglasses, and shimmy on that sun block because summer is almost here! Each and every one of you makes up our wonderful, fantastic, and superb staff. We are so excited to see old faces and meet new ones in just two short months. Now that we are all one big family let’s get to know one another!
\n
\nPlease tell us your name, where you go to school, what year this is for you at camp, and what you are most excited about for the summer. Also include any quirky or fun facts about yourself.
\n
\nI’ll start… -

Jeff CarterKeymasterHey, hey everyone. It’s Jeff, one of the few guys at Rockbrook. Here’s my Rockbrook story.
\n
\nAfter graduating from Davidson and teaching high school for 3 years in Athens, GA (Athens Academy), I first came to Rockbrook in 1988 to be the hiking and climbing guide. At the time, I was just starting graduate school, so taking outdoor trips at camp was a nice way to earn some money for school, and as it turned out, a nice break between all those years in Boston and Chicago (nine in all… yikes!). I really enjoyed being at Rockbrook and came back just about every summer, though I took a couple of them off to do research in Nigeria.
\n
\nOne unusual thing about my RBC history is that I met my wife Sarah here. She too worked many summers at camp, and over the years we got to know each other. As those things sometimes go, and after dating (long distance!) for 4 years, we got married at Rockbrook in August, 1996. We had the ceremony in the upper hillside lodge, and the reception in the dining hall. It was great fun having our friends stay at camp.
\n
\nBefore becoming one of the RBC directors, I was a college professor who taught Anthropology and Comparative Religions courses. That’s what you’re supposed to do when you finish a Ph.D. I taught at Vanderbilt, Davidson and the University of South Carolina. So if you’re interested in that kind of stuff, we should talk!
\n
\nThen in 2000 Sarah and I moved to Brevard to start the Castle Rock Institute at camp. Jerry Stone (the previous owner and director of camp) and I had an idea to create an outdoor education program for college students where they would come to camp for a semester, take four humanities courses, and go on tons of adventure trips… even to Australia and New Zealand. http://www.castle-rock.org
\n
\nSarah and I became the directors at Rockbrook in 2006, so this will be our 6th year in that role, even though we started working here back in the 80s!
\n
\nI am also a lucky Dad for two girls: Eva (
and Lily (4). If you haven’t met them, you will this summer! I put a couple of photos of them in my album. They are awesome fun kids, so I hope you enjoy getting to know them.
\n
\nEvery summer I look forward to camp starting up. It’s such a nice change from “ordinary life.” Being outside most of the time, staying really active, hanging out with super enthusiastic people (kids and staff!), all the special fun events—it’s really a great thing. It will be great to see you back at camp, and if you’re new this summer, I look forward to meeting you. -

InactiveHi! I’m Sofie and I am so excited to work as the Staff Director this summer. I recently graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a degree in Sociology and a license to teach High School Social Studies.
\n
\nI began working at Rockbrook in 2009 as a lifeguard and will always have a soft spot in my heart for the waterfront.
\n
\nMy favorite Rockbrook activities include completing my health, tax, and voluntary disclosure forms before camp begins, following the dress and grooming policy, and hiking to Rockbrook falls!
\n
\nRockbrook campers are the most charming, funny, adorable young women that you will ever meet. It is truly the perfect place to spend your summer.
\n
\nPull out your party hats because this summer is going to be wonderful! -

InactiveHello everyone!
\n
\nI can’t wait to meet you all. Sofie has been telling all of the rest of us in the office how fantastic you all are! We are going to have a blast this summer, and I can’t wait to get started.
\n
\nHere’s a little more about me… I’m 27, and I grew up in Georgia and started at Rockbrook in 1993 as a Junior camper. I became addicted and haven’t ever left! Now, I am the Program Director. My favorite camp activities are any of the crafts, riflery and archery. I graduated from Georgia Tech… GO YELLOW JACKETS! I have a new love of running, as I just ran my first 10K. And I love living in Brevard. It’s a great town, and you will love being part of it this summer.
\n
\nDuring the summer, you will see me doing all kinds of crazy camp things… dressing up in nutty attire, driving the camp bus, doing announcements, organizing special events, scheduling activities and the calendar, running around camp in a hurry, chatting with parents, etc… Feel free to come find me with any questions. I live in FBI, The Fanny Bell Inn, up behind the dining hall. Then, during the off-season, I travel around showing the camp movies to interested families, planning out the summer schedule, ordering supplies and camp gear, and assisting in getting our fun campers registered.
\n
\nSee you all very soon! -

InactiveHi everyone! I’m so excited this is up, I can’t wait to meet all of you

\n
\nI’m Ashley (from Spartanburg, SC), finishing up my sophomore year at the University of South Carolina where I study Elementary Education. This will be my first summer at Rockbrook but I am not new to the camp experience, I have attended every camp in the book from weather camp (yes, weather camp. I was in 3rd grade! haha) to music camp to girl scout camp. You name it, I’ve done it! I’m most looking forward to meeting all of the Rockbrook crew and all of the awesome campers that are going to be there this summer. I love to read, know ridiculous amounts of movie trivia, and am obsessed with everything Italian since I studied there last summer.
\n
\nAdd me on Facebook if you want, yay new friends!

InactiveHey folks!! My name is Emily Johnson and I’m going to be a “newbie” counselor this summer at Rockbrook!! It’s not my first rodeo, but first one of this category! I’ve loved the camps I’ve attended, but know this one will be the best in my life.
\n
\nI’m currently making my way through my sophomore year at the University of South Carolina, where I am studying biology with an emphasis on pre-med. I absolutely love people, especially kids, and hope to fulfill my dream of becoming a pediatric neurosurgeon. I love reading, playing guitar, and being spontaneous. I’m not exactly used to being on stage, but that actually is one of the many things I’m looking forward to. I look forward to meeting EVERYONE and can’t wait to meet some new sisters
\n
\nRandom facts: I have been featured for about 3 seconds on MTV’s MADE. I’ve been playing guitar for about 12 years now, and will bring it along with me this summer so we can have some campfire music! I have been playing tennis off and on for about 8 years, although unfortunately I’ve been a little rusty lately. But, I hope to be helping out there. I will go wherever y’all think I’m best suited for
\n
\nIf this post is just so riveting and you’d like to contact me, feel free to. I’m on Facebook and you can find me in the South Carolina network
Or, you can call/text me at 803-331-1203 or email me at johns455@email.sc.edu -

InactiveHey y’all! My name is Greer Theus and this will be my first year as a counselor, but I spent four awesome summers at Rockbrook as a camper and can’t wait to be back! I am 19 years old and am a freshman at Washington and Lee University in Virginia, where I am majoring in history and education. However, I grew up in Columbia, SC and am a die-hard Gamecock fan!
\n
\nI love music, especially playing the guitar and singing, and like Emily I am definitely bringing my guitar to camp with me. I go to school in the mountains and LOVE hiking.
\n
\nI can’t wait to meet all of y’all and spend an awesome summer at camp. So excited! -

InactiveHello, ladies (and Jeff)!
\nMy name is Jane and this will be my 7th summer at Rockbrook. I started as a middler and have now been a middler counselor for two years. (Middler ’til I die!)
\nI am from Sanibel, FL and am finishing up my sophomore year as a fine art photography major at the Corcoran College of Art + Design in Washington, D.C.. I am so thankful to be able to carry over my love for photography into my summers at Rockbrook as a teacher of Photo Fun. I hope to be a fashion photographer someday, but don’t let my passion for fashion fool you, my favorite camp attire includes camo craziness for counselor hunt and neither ice-cold Nantahala river water nor being attacked and subsequently covered in shaving cream can stifle my Rockbrook spirit!
\nI absolutely cannot wait to reunite with the old Rockbrook gals and am so excited to welcome new staff and campers, too!
\n
\nPlease feel free to add me on facebook or e-mail me at janehpierce@gmail.com.
\n
\nI LOVE CAMP! See y’all soon!!! -

InactiveHey y’all! I am so excited for summer 2011! My name is Elizabeth Fowlkes and I am a freshman studying Communications at Auburn University, from Oxford, Mississippi. I LOVE ROCKBROOK! I will be returning for my 9th summer, and I cannot wait! I will be working as a lifeguard down at the lake. One of my favorite things about camp is meeting new people!! I am so excited (if you can’t tell.) Some (interesting?) facts about me: I am a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, I work at a shoe store (danger), and this year I went to the National Championship game, Warrrr eagle! I also love reality TV. Feel free to chat me up about Bethenny Frankel, The Bachelor, or Biggest Loser. As well as Desperate Housewives and Grey’s Anatomy. I so look forward to meeting you all this summer! xoxo

InactiveGood MOOOORNING all you Rockbrook girls! At least… I think it’s morning there. I’ve been in Florence, Italy for the last four months, and I have yet to really get a grasp on this whole time change thing. I was just beginning to get it, when America had to go and switch to daylight savings time two weeks before everyone else in the world and I got all thrown off again. Is it 6 hours difference? Seven? Is it even April 9th there? Who can tell…
\nAnyways, my name is Grace Wallace and this will be my fifth summer at Rockbrook and my second as a counselor. I’m seriously SO excited about camp. My friends here are starting to get a liiiittle tired of hearing my camp stories over and over and over again, so it’ll be nice to be around people that actually care about my awesome Granny Bingo anecdotes again. I’ll be Middler line head this summer, so if any of you future Middler counselors (and anyone else as well, of course) have any questions about what to bring (every Halloween costume you have ever owned) or what to expect (awesomeness and ice cream), then please feel free to email me (egw820@gmail.com) or facebook me (I’m on the University of Michigan network).
\nOk things about me: I go to the University of Michigan; I’m from Jackson, Mississippi (Fowlkes, I met someone from Oxford in Rome a few weeks ago and about cried I was so excited); I have been known to get so into “An Austrian Went Yodeling” during mealtimes that even my eleven year old campers have asked me to tone it down a bit; I will be teaching drama again this summer because freeze skits are my liiife; I have had, no lie, three dreams this year in which I was eating Illahee Swirl ice cream from Dolly’s; and I will be bringing the first Harry Potter book with me to camp, because too many of my campers last year had only ever seen the movies–a tragedy of epic proportions–and I see it as my civic duty to introduce them to the books.
\nOk, that’s all I can think of, but please please please feel free to friend me on facebook (so I can feel cyber-popular), and I can’t wait to meet you all this summer!

InactiveHappy Saturday, Rockbrook girls and Jeff
!! My name is Mallory and I’ll be a ”newbie” counselor at Rockbrook this year. I’ve worked at a variety of day camps but residential will be new for me! I’m SOOO excited! I’m an Environmental Geology major in an education program at UNC-CH and I’m finishing up my junior year. My primary education license will be high school science but I actually want to teach middle school
.
\nRandom stuff about me: I’m obsessed with North Carolina Outward Bound School (I did a 28 day course last summer which inspired me to be a camp counselor and be outside a ton ALL summer!!!). I go to Chapel Hill, but I’ll be in the mountains from May 9 til December to go to Highlands Biological Station and camp! Can’t wait to be outside way more! I got this HUGE plastic bin for my camp stuff and I’m painting it. My fave random fact about me is that I can give just about anyone a piggy back ride.
\nSome things I love:
\n-climbing!!! (I’m not that great, but I’m dedicated
I was steadily climbing 5.8-5.9s but then got hooked on bouldering so I’m back to 5.7s…) (I’ve been climbing since my OB course)
\n-running (ideally on trails, slowly, while chatting w/ awesome people and finding cool things like rocks (I’m a geology major at heart…) and fake magenta ray bans). I’m running my second half tomorrow!!!
\n-dancing (my latest foray in dance was aerial dance – on fabrics, kinda like Cirque de/du (bah, my French has gone downhill) Soleil but WAY WAY less crazy)
\n-crafting
\n-going on adventures
\n
\nI can’t wait to meet y’all and have an amazing, fun summer full of making friends, teaching, learning, hanging out with campers and counselors, and silly/awesome/spectacular adventures. Feel free to facebook me (Mallory Nickel, UNC-CH, mnickel@email.unc.edu) or call me (I don’t have texting – I know, that basically means I live in a cave or something…) 919-279-0891. If any experienced Rockbrook ladies (or guys) have any major things that should definitely be on my camp packing list, please let me know! I love to be prepared
. I have a ton of old dance costumes so I’ll try to bring those.
\n
\nLater!

InactiveHey Everyone!!
\n
\nI’m Brittney Holland and this is my first year at Rockbrook! I am beyond excited to get to spend the whole summer at camp, since the other camps I’ve worked have been just a few weeks. I am a freshman at UNC Chapel Hill studying English and Dramatic Art. I hope to be a costume designer, so I am ubber excited about all the dressing up that will be happening this summer!! I love all things artsy and can’t wait to teach the needlepoint class! I guess some random facts are that I am in Kappa Kappa Gamma, I love singing loudly and out of tune, and almost every story I tell begins with “This one time at camp…” I am totally looking forward to spending the summer with all of you and making great camp memories!! Feel free to look me up on Facebook or text me at 336-769-7469!

InactiveHi! I’m Kim Searles and this will be my first year at Rockbrook–and I couldn’t be more excited! I’m a 20yr old sophomore psychology major at UNC-Chapel Hill (Brittney and Mallory we should definitely get together sometime before camp!). Eventually I want to do something where I can work with kids, so I’m beyond pumped I get to spend my summer doing just that
. A few random things about me:
\n-I love singing, and I’m in an a cappella group at UNC (It’s called Cadence, look us up on youtube and you can see me bopping around and beatboxing!)
\n-I can do the worm
\n-The smell of rain is one of my favorite things
\n-I laugh all the time. No seriously, I’m that person that laughs at scary movies…whoopsies!
\n
\nI can’t wait to meet everybody! Feel free to facebook me (in the UNC-CH network) or email me at ksearles@email.unc.edu

InactiveHey!
\nI’m SO excited to be coming to Rockbrook this summer! This will be my first summer as a camp counselor, and I just can’t wait. I am from Utah, about an hour south of Salt Lake City. Am I the only one all the way out here in the west? I lived in Virginia, near D.C., last year as a nanny, and I fell in love with the East Coast! I am a junior at Brigham Young University, and I am studying Family and Consumer Sciences Education. It’s a mouthful, but it’s a lot of fun!! Add me on facebook, or you are more than welcome to email me @ stephanielewis90@gmail.com. To all you seasoned counselors, send me your secret tips and tricks!
So excited to meet all of you!!
\nCrazy facts about me!
\n- I have moved 26 times, and I’m only 20 years old!
I love change, and I love to travel!!
\n- I love music! I have played the piano for 15 years and the guitar for 3 and I’ve sung ever since i can remember! I also love being in musicals!
\n- I love to sew! I took a clothing sewing class this last semester, and have become a little bit obsessed with revamping my wardrobe, and/or finding things at a thrift store and making them awesome!
\n- I LOVE eating at Panera Bread. It is probably one of the things I miss most about living in the east!! Thank heavens Costco sells their broccoli cheese soup! -

InactiveHello fellow staffers!!
\n
\nMy name is Lindsey, and I’ll be a newbie counselor at Rockbrook for the third session. Even though it’s my first time at Rockbrook, I’ve been a camper off and on since my early days in Girl Scouts. Hiking, roasting marshmellows, exploring new places and just being silly are only a few things I’m looking forward to this summer! I just graduated from Boston University where I earned a BA in English with a minor in Theatre Arts. I really miss Boston!!! Right now, I’m earning a Master’s degree in Secondary Education for English/Language Arts. I work full-time as an intern at a middle school in Fairfield, CT and I’m learning a lot.
\n
\nJust a few things about me: I LOVE to travel – the last place I traveled to was Israel, and before that Ireland (I want to go to Italy next to continue the “I” trend!) I really enjoy acting and being creative, so I’m looking forward to helping out the Rockbrook girls with their skits and plays. Other hobbies include, writing, reading and boating. I am a Disney movie expert, and pasta in any shape or form is my absolute favorite food.
\n
\nA few more things I’m pumped for this summer:
\nPossibly doing one or all of the following – Hiking, climbing, rafting, playing Granny Bingo, and exploring the Rockbrook waterfall!
\n
\nCan’t wait to meet everyone

InactiveNEW FRIENDS! OLD FRIENDS! I can’t wait to see and squeeze all of you soon!
\n
\nMy name is Grayson and I am finishing (with struggles aplenty) my sophomore year at Appalachian State University. I’m a Sustainable Development major with a minor in Communication and I’d love to pursue a career in environmental education or something that involves positive community building! HOORAY MOTHER EARTH!
\n
\nFormerly of the Durnan/Randall Senior Line Power Unit, this will be my second year at RBC and it is truly hard to verbalize the utter excitement brewing in my soul. I’m jazzed to be working all three sessions! I taught nature to budding hippies last summer, and this summer I’ll be working on my Chaco Stank while instructing paddling. Ye be warned, I have zero control over the aroma of those shoes. Y’all will also get to meet my little sister, Paige, who is working third sesh.
\n
\nI like chips and dip, playing outside, friendship bracelets, s’mores (marshmallows are the only exception to my vegetarianism, I just love them so much), hammocking, live music, walking up the staff lot hill after milkshakes at Rocky’s, replacing my windshield (LOL AIMEE LOL), hula hooping, and avoiding spider bites on my inner thigh.
\n
\nFind me on facebook! Really, this summer is going to be one for the books. -

InactiveHEY Y’ALL!
\nI wish there was a way to express my excitement and joy that I have bottled up inside me over the fact that I’ll be back at Rockbrook this summer! It’ll be my second summer as a counselor (again, braving sessions 1, 2, AND 3 like Grayson Randullo!) and I’m SO PUMPED!
\nJust a smidge about me:
\n-I’m finishing up my sophomore year at James Madison University (GO DUKES!) where I’m studying Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies/Education/Theatre Arts and I am also a sister of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority!
\n-I’m from Richmond, VA and despite what many of the more southern states say, I know I’m a southern girl at heart
\n-I am often the person people go to if they are in the need for a random fact (especially those involving food, new ideas on what to eat with ranch, or whatever else).
\n-I’m convinced that everyone should try tofu at least once (especially Rockbrook’s because it changed my LIFE). I’m very passionate and excited about the vegetarian lifestyle and Rockbrook is the best place in the world to release your inner “granola.” (That sounds kind of gross…. haha) ANYWHO!
\n-My dad is a chaplain in the Army which is kinda cool and interesting and I have a younger sister and brother which is totally not an interesting fact at all….
\n-I’m bizarrely obsessed with quotes. I have a book that one of the counselors gave me last summer that I’m trying to fill entirely with meaningful quotes, so if you have any that are special to you, feel free to send them my way!
\n-Last summer I taught Drama class, directed the musical Annie! for a couple sessions, and helped put on one of the coolest banquets EVER (I’m biased, of course) with the CA’s of third session.
\n
\nI have literally no idea what Rockbrook has in store for me this summer, but if last summer is any indication, my life will only get better in the months of June, July, and August
If you have any questions or want to stalk me of Facebook before we meet each other to make sure I’m a semi-normal human being, go for it! I’m under the JMU network and will immediately accept your friend request. Otherwise, I can’t wait to be reunited with old friends and make new ones too! -

InactiveHi everyone! I’m stoked to be coming back to RBC for my third summer. (does this mean I get a pin?! I don’t know what to do with myself..)
\n
\nMy name is Kim Libby, I’m 21 and I will be graduating from the University of Florida in about two weeks (GO GATORS!) I studied journalism and linguistics. I just got my first big-girl job, which is why I can’t stay at RBC as long as I would like, or basically, forever. I will be moving to San Antonio, TX, to join an Americorps program called City Year. It’s like a mentoring program in inner-city schools that helps kids learn how to read, etc. I’m excited to move to a new place and eat TexMex all day, err’day.
\n
\nI can’t wait to come back to RBC and see everyone, and of course, meet new people! The past two summers I have taught drama, dance and helped to direct two of the plays, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown” and “Annie.” In college, I was in a dance company for 4 years and I also dabbled in aerial dance (I read that on someone’s post.. we need to chat!) and I also did improv comedy. Other fun facts are that I drive a silver beetle that barely makes it up the back hill of camp, (she’s a trooper) and I have a crooked pinky. I loved being a senior line counselor for the past two years and I can’t wait to get back up to NC.

My hobbies include running, reading (total history buff), traveling, and anything to do with The Avett Brothers. I am also a total t-shirt and tennis shoe junky- just wait til this summer to see the unveiling

InactiveRockbrook Camp! What is up?! I don’t think that I have ever been so thrilled to get back to camp. What a summer it will be! My name is Chase Nelson, and Rockbrook is the scene of my girlhood dreams. I am 20 and I am finishing up my junior year at the University of Tennessee Knoxville where I am getting a degree in Global Studies. Go Vols! I am from a small town in North Carolina that a lot of people have probably never heard of. It’s called Brevard. Cool place–you guys should all check it out. I have been spending my summers at RBC for a little while now, and I have come to the conclusion that it is the best place in the world. Last year was my first year as a counselor, and I had the time of my life! I helped teach WHOA (Wilderness Hiking Outdoor Adventure), and it was great. My interests include, but are not limited to, the following:
\n
\nRapping- if you want lessons they’ll come at a price
\nMeeting new people- cannot wait. I cannot wait.
\nBrevard
\ndAnCiNg
\nBeing Outside! Yay!
\nSinging Rockbrook songz
\nChelsea Handler
\n
\nAnd that’s just to name a few, y’all. I can’t wait to see everyone again and meet so many new people! We’re going to have such a great summer! The person who put this staff together must be amazing, because everyone seems so great!!! I want to meet her. I’m on facebook if you want to holler my way.
\nSo thrilled to be going to the heart of the wooded mountain sooooooon!!! Keep it real, ladies.

Inactive‘ello!
\n
\nI’m Kristen Cozart. I am 19 years young and I am approaching the end of my freshman year at Appalachian State University in beautiful Boone, NC. My hometown is Stanley, NC (a little town near the SC border that rolls up its sidewalks at night.)
\n
\nThis will be my very first experience as a counselor. I also have never been to Rockbrook…and needless to say, I am VERY stoked!
I will be working the first session. I am truly looking forward to meeting everyone, campers and staff.
\n
\nI am a Communication Disorders major (speech pathology) and I am minoring in Psychology. I am the middle child. I have an older sister who is married and a younger brother who will be a freshman in high school. My dad is an artist on the side and this past year has brought many opportunities for him, including USA Today, Our State Magazine, and the Mint Museum of Charlotte. My mom is a photographer and is the reason I have grown to love that hobby .
\n
\nI am a music junkie. I listen to mostly folk and indie music (acoustic and rock.) I love the Avett Brothers. I have seen them in concert 3 times since I was 15 and that isn’t enough. I also love big-band music, and a touch of techno.
\n
\nI never, ever watch TV. I might catch up on The Office on Hulu, but that’s about it. My TV and remote control stay sad and dusty
\n
\nI love ethnic food, animals, (my dog Pippy is my favorite animal at the moment…maybe I am biased), singing in the ASU Gospel Choir, telling pointless stories, buying dresses, goofing off (preferably outdoors) and making you laugh.
\n
\nI’m counting down the days until we all meet! (thank goodness for the timer on this website.)
\n
\nFacebook me? I’m hip.

InactiveI have been sitting in front of my computer for at least 20 minutes with a big ol’ stupid grin on my face while reading all your posts–so many new faces that I can’t wait to meet and so many returners that I will be clinging to in true sloth fashion upon first sight.
\n
\nHi! My name is Christine Alexander and I am a rising senior at The George Washington University in Washington, DC studying Theater, History, and French. I am originally from Atlanta, GA and therefore consider myself a true GRITS (Girl Raised In The South). I am currently writing to you all from gay ol’ Parieeee (I’m studying here for the semester), and let me tell you I am living for camp right now. The city is wonderful and beautiful and entertaining, but I need mountains to survive. I just got back this morning from a spring break trip that involved Ireland, and my mountain withdrawal hit me hard as I took a bus tour along the longest mountain range on the Island. I have a blog for while I’m here and my facebook is full of pictures from my travels, so feel free to stalk: http://voyagesenvrac.blogspot.com/
\n
\nThose western North Carolinian peaks have been in my blood since my first summer at Rockbrook in 1995 and I literally cannot imagine my life without a summer in Brevard. I am a paddling instructor (white water kayaking enthusiast, but also super into hiking, rock climbing, and FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS!!) and I’m normally kickin’ it on the Junior line (the Juniors are the best, la-di-da!), but I’m not entirely sure yet where this summer will find me. As long as I’m on that mountain and with you fabulous people, I will be sittin’ pretty.
\n
\nI cannot wait to meet everyone and play games (I. love. games.) and tell you about sloths (my favorite animal)!!!
\nIf you have any questions about camp, please please please feel free to ask me.
\n
\nÀ bientôt!
\nChristine

InactiveHey guys! I just finished reading everyone’s posts, and I am now very camp sick.
\n
\nYep thats right. I don’t get homesick, I get camp sick. This will be my ELEVENTH summer at camp which means that for over a decade of my life, I have been visiting the heart of the wooded mountain.
\n
\nI am so excited to be a 2nd year counselor and to get to meet new counselors. Last summer I taught archery and I was a junior counselor. I honestly don’t know what I will be teaching, but I can probably teach anything now. I will be at RBC for all of 2nd and 3rd sessions and i will be celebrating my 19th birthday whilst at camp this year, something that hasn’t happened since my 3rd year.
\n
\nI am finishing up my freshman year at the College of Charleston as an arts management major! I absolutely love it here, and in fact I got a job as a tour guide this semester. I am a Kappa Delta, and obsessed with my sorority. However, I cannot wait to get more sisters at RBC this year!!!
\n
\nPlease feel free to friend me on facebook, but PLEASE follow me on TWITTER!!! (@makcollins) I can’t wait to see everyone (and hug Grayson)! -

InactiveHey guys! I’m Chrissy, and this will be my first year at Rockbrook! I’m going to be lifeguarding at the waterfront. (Any other lifeguards out there? Let me know!)
\n
\nI’m so excited to be a part of all the traditions and activities you guys have. And I’m definitely pumped to master the Rockbrook lingo.
I’ve never visited Rockbrook but I’ve watched the videos too many times to count already, and it looks absolutely gorgeous. I’m sure it can only be better in person.
\n
\nI worked at a Girl Scout camp in Wisconsin as a counselor last year and I’ve attended at least five camps as a child, so I’m really interested in seeing different ways camps are run. I was a Girl Scout for 12 years and I love love love camping. I’m originally from Chicago, but I now live in Grinnell, Iowa where I go to school among the cornfields. I’m pretty undecided as to what I’m going to major in, but I’m leaning towards getting my teaching license and possibly concentrating in Environmental Studies.
\n
\nI play water polo and intramural soccer at school, but I’m pretty much game for trying any sport. She’s the Man is my favorite movie, and I can quote almost every single line of it. I try to work lines from it into my daily conversations. I’m also a big Harry Potter fan, and I am SO PUMPED another movies is coming out this summer. We’re definitely gonna have to arrange to see that
. I love sweet potato fries; I don’t think I could ever eat too many of them. Unless I turned orange. But that would be a tad excessive. I love to laugh, and have silly spells where I act like I’m five because I’m so happy.
\n
\nI absolutely cannot wait to meet you all! I’m sure we’re going to have unbelievably fun times. I’m also pumped to work on my Chaco tan, and have summer again!! -

InactiveI’m afraid I’m a bit late on this one…
\nI’m Frankie Zeager and I am from Travelers Rest, SC, which is right outside of the bustling metropolis of Greenville, SC. I’m a rising senior in high school, and I’ll be a CIT 2nd session this summer. I’m so excited that I was one of the few who had this opportunity. This will be my 8th summer at Rockbrook, and I can’t imagine summer without it. As far as interests go, I love contra dancing (a folk dance, kind of a mixture of line and traditional english country dances), hiking, learning Mandarin Chinese, bluegrass music, independent/foreign films, and, of course, being in the heart of the wooded mountains. I can’t wait to come back to Brevard this summer! -

InactiveHey everyone!
\nMy name is Sara Walton, and I’m a sophomore psychology major at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. I’m originally from Blue Ridge, Georgia. This will be my first summer at Rockbrook, but not my first camp experience. I am soooo excited about this summer!
\nI play intramural flag football and love playing basketball (although I am a little rusty…) and running in my spare time. I love hiking and hammocking! I also enjoy photography and trying to play the guitar, but I haven’t really mastered the guitar playing at all. I too am pumped about some friendship bracelets and chaco tans!! I love seeing people laugh and smile and just being crazy and having fun!
\nI can’t wait to get there this summer and meet all you awesome people! Feel free to find me on facebook or email me at sara.walton@vikings.berry.edu. -

InactiveHey y’all! I’ma Amanda Hoefer an I’ll be a CIT this summer! I’m SO grateful for this opportunity. Fingers crossed, I’ll be helping out on the Junior Line. I love the little ones, they’re so precious and genuine! This will be my 10th summer way down in Brevard, and I can’t imagine my summers without the best place on Earth. Those 10 summers have been some of the best of my life, so needless to say, I’m really pumped! I’m a rising senior at Heathwood Hall in Columbia, SC and have grown up a die hard Clemson fan. Go Tigers! I absolutely LOVE singing! I know this sounds cheesy, but music is my passion. I especially love baroque and classical era music along with John Mayer, Lady Gaga, and Bob Dylan. I love playing piano, as well as violin. I’m obsessed with politics, and I’m realllly excited to have the ability to vote in less than a year! Yay! I run cross country and track, and like many cross country runners, I have quite the love/hate relationship with running. I love acting, writing poetry, and reading as well. Kurt Vonnegut and JK Rowling are my favorite authors (Harry Potter FTW!). I also love going to Clemson football and basketball games with my dad. It’s our way of bonding. I love Halloween and Thankgiving, because they give me excuses to do two of my favorite things: To dress up and be crazy, and to eat. I’m terribly clumsy, and have broken my wrist 3 times (left twice, right once) and my right thumb. I’ve been known to trip over ant, dust mites, and thin air. I love banging on tables, singing crazy songs, swimming in the lake, spending a LOT of time in Goodwill, and running Charlotte’s Loop. Sorry for such a long post, although I’m sure all of you lovely ladies (and Jeff) have been absolutely fascinated! Feel free to add me on Facebook!

InactiveGIDDYUP PARTY PEOPLE.
\n
\nMy name is Catherine Colleen Frampton, and I mostly go by some rendition of my last name, but you can call me any little thing your heart desires. Other than the fact that I’m having hot flashes/blood rushes/going bald because I’m so excited about camp, I’d also like to tell you that this will be my fabulous fifth year at R-O-C-K-B-R-DOUBLE O-K. I’m from New Orleans, LA and I’m a senior at Sewanee, more formally known as the University of the South. I’ll be graduating in May with a degree in Anthropology and Women’s Studies, and I can’t think of a better way to kickoff my post-grad life than spending my summer (1st, 2nd, and 3rd sesh) in the heart of a wooded mountain with all of you fine people.
\n
\nFor the past four summers, the Hi-Up cabin has been my home and I’ve enjoyed working with the hard-working Hups immensely. That said, this year will be a bit different, as I’ll be working in the office as assistant Program Director. With Mandy as my guru, I’ll help with coordinating camp happenings– from daily activities to Rockbrook surprises. I am super pumped about this new role!
\n
\nAs for random facts, I’m very good at sweating and singing out of tune. I like to think these are assets in camp world. Other talents include dancing like I’m just getting a handle on my motor skills, walking around camp with the Walkbrook Walkers (Brevard’s finest walking club, est. summer 2009) and getting sucked into every tween phase/craze/sensation that hits camp (helllooooo, Justin Bieber).
\n
\nI can’t wait to be your friend, sing songs, smell the campfire (and Grayson’s chacos), and work hard and play hard all day. Bring on the summatime!
\n
\nOodles of love,

InactiveHello!
\n
\nMy name is Rebecca, but I go by Becky. I am from outside of Philadelphia. I am currently finishing up my sophomore year of college at Albright College in Reading, PA. I am majoring in Child and Family Studies and Spanish. I hope to study abroad next spring. Also, in the fall I pledged Phi Mu and I have enjoyed every minute of it.
\n
\nI started to attend RBC in 2001 as a camper and have been going every summer since then. This will be my 11th summer at camp, which is hard to believe.
\n
\nI love to be outside and I am so excited to be returning to the heart of the wooded mountain. I love to swim and run! I love Brevard and the mountains! Also, I love love to travel and go to the beach.
\n
\nFeel free to add me on facebook (Becky Rose, Albright College) or feel free to email me rebecca.rose13@albright.edu.

InactiveHey, ya’ll!
\n
\nMy name is Haley Hudler, and this will be my ninth summer at Rockbrook! I will be working for the second mini-session of second session, as well as third session. I’ve been a counselor on all three lines and have loved each of them in their own way, but Seniors definitely have a special place in my heart. This summer, however, I am SO psyched to call the Hi-Up cabin my new home! I also can’t wait for muffin breaks, 80’s dance party (my favorite Rockbrook surprise event), to be able to sing “Prunie” whenever I want, and to shoot some guns (riflery is my favorite activity, and I’ve taught it for the past two summers).
\n
\nA little about me:
\nI’m from Fort Myers, FL, but have a second home in Nashville.
\n
\nI’m a rising junior at Denison University, a small liberal arts college in Ohio, where I am a Political Science and English major. I love my school, but going to college up north has definitely shown me that I am a southern girl through and through.
\n
\nI’m super involved in my sorority, Delta Gamma, and one reason I love it is because it’s like I get to be at camp all year long! I basically love any excuse to wear weird costumes, sing songs, and just be an overall goof, and both Rockbrook and DG give me an outlet to do this.
\n
\nI’m a HUGE Harry Potter fan, so I am seriously hoping some of you will help celebrate the release of the final movie with me! Also, if you ever want to visit the J. Crew distribution center that’s nearby, hit me up– I’m obsessed.
\n
\nTo all you returning staffers, I can’t wait to see you again! As for our new staff members, I am so excited to meet you– prepare to have the most fun, yet most meaningful and life changing summer of your life! Also, please feel free to add me on facebook or follow me on twitter (hhudler). -

InactiveGreetings!
\n
\nMy name is Hunter Futch, and this will be my eleventh summer at Rockbrook! I cannot imagine life without it. I am SO excited for this summer, to reunite with the returners and to meet the new counselors! I’m counting down the days until I can sing camp songs to the top of my lungs, and dress up in ridiculous costumes.
\n
\nI am from Decatur, GA, very close to Atlanta. I am about to finish my freshman year at Millsaps College, in Jackson, Mississippi. (Grace Wallace is the only person who knows where this is…) I play soccer here, so you will most likely find me teaching sports at camp.
\n
\nI’m not really good at spitting out random facts about myself, but people know me at camp as the counselor who uses hot sauce at every meal. A lot of you may vouch for this.
\n
\nSo here’s to a fabulous summer!
\n
\nOh, and I’ll be seeing you 1st and 2nd session! -

InactiveWADDUP PARTY PEOPLEEEEE!
\n
\nI’m a bit late on this whole intro thing…. I had a pinch of trouble remembering what combination of letters I had concocted as a password, and after many tries and to no avail, I finally got over my pride and clicked the “forgot password?” option. so ta-da here I am
\n
\nAnyway- HI! My name is Michelle Batlle. It looks like “Battle”, sounds like “ba-yay” –I will answer to either
I am 20 years old and I stand at a frightening 5’2″ stature. I was born in New Orleans, raised in the Dominican Republic, and I now go home to the good ol’ Kansas City. “You know what the Midwest is? Young and Restless.” I couldn’t have said it better myself, Thank you Kanye. I am currently a sophomore at Stanford University, and California has quickly become one of my favorite places, second to North Carolina, of course. I am studying Human Biology with a concentration in Development and currently pre-med. We’ll see how things pan out…
\nOn to the more fun stuff: CAMP!!
\nThis is will be my 11th year at Rockbrook and I STILL get butterflies as if I was one of you newbies when the smell of camp air is right around the corner (46 days and 10 hours to be exact, thank you online countdown). This will be my 4th year as a counselor and I can honestly say they have been the most enriching years of my life. Which is why I am back for moreeee! I started as a CIT on the Middler line and thought I’d be a “middler-til-I-die,” but last year I had the opportunity to rock the house with CAs both second and third session and can now say I am a devoted Senior line convert. I will be joining the senior line again this year for 2nd and 3rd session as the line-head! SO ALL YOU SENIOR COUNSELORS OUT THERE pleeaaseee do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, compliments, or concerns
I am available whenever you are!
\nIf you are still engaged and like to procrastinate on the rockbrook website like me during class here are more fun facts about me:
\n- “forever young” by bob dylan is my theme song
\n- I have a raspy voice, and I embrace it.
\n- I joined the Stanford Women’s Rugby team in the fall. I absolutely love the sport and it is my new favorite thing to talk about. We’re going to Sweet 16s for the national championship next week so wish me luck!!
\n- I am a proud member of the srat Kappa Kappa Gamma.
\n- My ultimate dream is to be a voice of a character in a Pixar movie, if anyone has any connections HOLLA AT YO GIRL!!
\n- I love people and the color orange
\n- Rockbrook saves my life without me even knowing it every year.
\n
\nNeedless to say, I am really looking forward to this summer and I honestly can’t wait to reunite with my favorite people on this planet and of course meet new best friends!!!!
\n
\nFriend me on facebook, no really, do it

InactiveHi Rockbrook Family! My name’s Deborah Postma and this will be my 11th summer at camp! I live in Columbus, GA, but a part of my heart stays in Brevard at camp. I have one sister: Michelle who goes to camp as well. She’s the best sister ever. I love being active and I am on the swim team at my school. I also like to bike frequently with my dad or with friends. This is my first year being in a cabin as a counselor (I’m actually a CIT this year), AND I AM SO EXCITED! Camp is my second home to me, and I believe that the best decision my parents ever made was sending me to camp every summer since I was 7. RBC really has changed and shaped me into the person I am now. Can’t wait to see you all this summer!

InactiveHey Everyone!
\n
\nMy name is Colleen Cooper and I am currently finishing up my freshman year at Elon University in good ole North Carolina where I am studying Business with a concentration in Economics and Communications: Media Arts and Entertainment with a concentration in Cinema. I am from Hilton Head Island, South Carolina but was born in New Jersey and still consider myself a northerner (even though you can’t really call Hilton Head as being in the south since it is mainly made up of tourists from Ohio or New Jersey). This is going to be my first summer at Rockbrook as a counselor, but I spent two glorious summers there as a senior and a CA!! Some fun facts about me are that I am a proud sister of Alpha Omicron Pi, I am a die hard Yankees fan, I have a twin sister, and I love to sing loudly and off key! I can’t wait to spend the entire summer (yes, all three sessions) in the heart of the mountains!

InactiveFriends, Romans and Fellow Countrywomen,
\n
\nMy name is Aimee Johnson, and I am becoming overstimulated just thinking about the future wonders this summer has to bring. This year, I’ll be celebrating my 12 year anniversary with RBC and the romance couldn’t be stronger. I’m originally from Tampa, FL (as you can tell by my dark complexion) but I’m currently residing in the boonies of Tennessee while I finish my freshman year at Sewanee: The University of the South. In my spare time, I’m a DJ for the (widely listened to) Sewanee radio station and I get such a thrill giving shout outs to my RBC sistas.
\n
\nThis will be my fourth year as a counselor and my heart still palpitates thinking about slipping on that red staff shirt once again. I’ve always been a Junior Line counselor, this is probably because of my ability to still believe in Santa Claus, idolize Disney Channel stars, and just enjoy some good wholesome tadpole catching in the creek. This summer I am most looking forward to getting dirty on the tether ball court, making some terrible/extremely meaningful friendship bracelets, eating those famous RBC grilled cheese sandwiches, and most importantly, making memories (in my heart) with all of you.
\n
\nSome of my many talents include eating (really though, if you ever need pig slop cleared…I’m your girl), jazzercising, sunburning, giving piggyback rides, making tye dye t-shirts, rhyming, walking/chanting around camp with the Walkbrook Walkers, and tone deaf singing. I have a soft spot for lemonade stands, playing dress up, 80’s music, Beyonce Knowles and my mother Kathy (who was an RBC nurse during my youth)
\n
\nI can’t wait to play outside this summer with all of you. I’m so excited to meet all the new staff and be reunited with all of the returners. Friend me on Facebook, but really, you won’t regret it.

). This will be my 11th year at Rockbrook (my roommate, however, is a 12-year and never lets me forget that one extra year…a miss. ginger-aimee-johnson). I’m a froshmonsta at Sewanee: University of the South and have absofruitely (sp?) loved this college that @AimeeJohnson and I decided is camp with books (yes, i tweet..aeburger. follow me.). I am STOKED to get back to camp this year and create some more of that rockbrook love that fills my heart. Around camp I am known for the Photo Phun Pham, whipping my hair until i throw out my neck and am put on bed rest, napping like a CHAMP during rest hour and falling down.
\n
\nsome semi-interesting, quasi-frightening facts:
\n1. when i was 12, i was hit by a fedex truck. EWPS!
\n2. when i was 12 + 1 week, i fell off a high dive onto cement. DOUBLE EWPS!
\n3. i fight Hunter Futch for that hot sauce at every meal.
\n4. my favorite rockbrook song would have to be the beaver song. it just really sends me straight to my happy place.
\n5. ive got fancy dance moves.
\n6. that’s all ive got for now.

\n3. I am great with remembering song lyrics, especially to TV show theme songs.
\n4. At Rockbrook I like to run with the Rockbrook Runners.

InactiveHI everyone! I am a little late to the game, and I blame my crazy schedule! I have loved reading what everyone has to say about themselves, and I am now more excited about camp than ever! I am currently finishing up my sophomore year at the University of Tennessee, where I am double majoring in Wildlife Management and Agricultural Leadership, and minoring in African Studies. I am fairly sure that I will be working with rock climbing at camp, and this will be my first time at Rockbrook! I am also working all three sessions.
\nNow for some interesting things about me!
\n
\n1) I am obsessed with Johnny Depp. You think you like him more? Wrong. I own almost every movie he has ever been in, and I am not ashamed.
\n
\n2) I love to read, if I have any down time then I usually have a book in my hand.
\n
\n3) I am planning on joining the Peace Corps and one day working with elephants!
\n
\nAlso, I am super creepy and just went through and added most of you on facebook. Those I didn’t add, I wasn’t sure if I had the right person so I didn’t want to be even creepier than I had to. Feel free to add me!!! -

InactiveHello Ladies!!!
\nI also am a little late on the game, Sorry! School is finishing up, AP testing is going crazy, registering for college, and waiting until I can finally be at RBC! As a first year full time counselor I never realized how much work and effort must really must be put in! This forum is amazing and you ladies have some excellent backgrounds, ideas, and thoughts! I’m currently a senior at Bluffton High School. I plan on attending Brevard College in the fall to study Wilderness Leadership and Experimental Education, go tornadoes! I love North Carolina and everything Brevard has to offer a gal like me. I was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia and I speak Spanish fluently. This summer will be my tenth year here at Rockbrook, and I am more excited then ever! I can’t wait to be there again and see everyone!
\n
\nSome fun facts….
\n1.) My favorite color is yellow

InactiveHi everyone!!
\nMy name is Maisie O’Quinn and I’m from New Orleans. I’m currently a junior at Louise S. Mcgehee. I’m totally late posting but school is crazy, not to mention I’m currently in Costa Rica for a school service trip so Hola!. This summer should be my fourth year… or maybe fifth. Its hard to remember when they all fly by. No idea where I’m going to college or what I’ll study, but I do know that I’m really interested in math and science (perhaps pre-med or engineering?) so if you like any of that talk to me!
\nFun Facts —- I’m partially color blind. I adore all animals but have two extremely cute cats which I like to imitate. I love singing and acting and am usually pretending my life is a big musical. I love reading dystopian novels. I have played piano for my entire life and probably have Lord of the Rings memorized. Don’t judge me!

\nGreetings from Millersville, Pennsylvania! I cannot WAIT to start what I think is going to be an AMAZING summer at Rockbrook! I always wanted to stay at an overnight camp when I was little, and now is my chance to live my dream!
\nI’m currently a senior International Studies major/Spanish minor at Millersville University. I am graduating in LESS THAN 2 WEEKS and I’m soooo nervous!
\nFun facts about me:
\n-I come from the Philadelphia area, more specifically right outside King of Prussia (gotta love the KOP mall!)
\n-I LOVE southern accents! My grandmom is originally from Tennessee and she’s the only one in her family who didn’t keep the accent because she moved when she was little
\n-I love music of almost ALL kinds! My favorites are pop, country, rock, and musicals!
\n-My roomates and I have a cat named Heath Ledger and he’s sitting right next to me now!

InactiveHey ladies,
\n
\nDefinitely jumping in a little late but I’m so excited to work three sessions with you all this summer. Let’s get to business:
\n-I love lists.
\n-I love Utah (which is where I’m from)
\n-I love the University of Utah, where I’m studying English lit.
\n-I’ve never been a camp counselor before!
\n-I’m turning 21 on the day orientation starts
\n-I’m recovering from jaw surgery, so by the time I get to camp I’ll still be learning to talk again and you will NOT be able to shut me up.
\n-I LOVE frisbee. If you play ultimate or would like to learn, I will ALWAYS be down to throw this summer. I’m bringing at least two of my favorite discs for sure.
\n-Those last two things combined mean that I really need to get back into shape after being out of commission for the past month, so if you want a running/workout buddy when you have free time let me know.
\n-I love to sing
\n-I love games! Card games, board games, crossword puzzles, sports. Let’s play.
\n-I’ve started saying things like NBD, totes, supes, whaddup and whatevs on a scarily regular basis, so just… watch out. Sometimes not even I can handle the weird things I say and the way I say them.
\n-I love learning new things and teaching new things to other people. I’m getting all wiggly and excited reading these posts full of the amazing things you guys can do, and I want to learn to do them too! In return, this summer I plan to teach every one of you about the deep spiritual profundity of soap bubbles. For reals. Bubble wands are totes on my packing list, nbd.
\n
\n-I’m the only Carlie Mzik in the entire world! So look me up on Facebook, I’m not hard to find. -

InactiveHi everyone! I’m Carrie.

\n
\nI’ve been going to Rockbrook for eight years, and I’m going to be spending my ninth year there as a CIT. I’ve always looked forward to being a counselor. Hopefully I’ll be able to return as for many years to come, until the staff gets tired of me, haha!
\n
\n- I love music, mainly rock, but I’ll listen to (almost) anything! My favorite band is Green Day, forever and always!
\n- I love to make people laugh. I can be random at times, and I LOVE to make jokes. So be prepared for that!
\n- Some of my favorite foods include: steak, ice cream (ESPECIALLY Dolly’s Illahee Swirl. Best flavor ever!), and chocolate. And, I drink a lot of milk. If you have any extra at breakfast, just pass it down to me!
\n- I love to play guitar. I’ve only been playing for about two years, but I’m slowly getting better.
\n- I love to draw as well. Art is a passion of mine, and I’m always trying to improve my skills.
\n- I don’t mind catching sprickets, so if you need one to be removed from your cabin, just come find me. Don’t worry, he won’t get hurt in the process.
\n- You can usually find me in the craft oriented activites at RBC.
\n…I can’t really think of much else, so hopefully that’s enough about me!
\n
\nOne cool fact about my life at RBC is that I spent my eighth year at camp as a Hi-up. I turned 16 during that time, which meant that I had been going to Rockbrook for half of my life! Hard to believe it’s been so long!
\n
\nI can’t wait to be back at RBC to not only catch up with old friends, but meet new ones too. See you all in a few months! -

InactiveHello RBC buds- sorry, but it seemed my computer didn’t like such awesome websites. All is well now.

\n
\nMy name is Caitlib Baltzley, and I am so very excited to attend my sixth year at Rockbrook Camp as a CIT! Ever since 2006, I’ve gone to first session, all the way through my Hi-Up year; however this year I will be working at second session. I’ll miss all the girls I’ve bonded with, but I am more than excited to befriend even MORE good ‘ole Rockbrook girls.
\n
\nI am about to complete my Junior year at Hilton Head Prep. school down in South Carolina, and what a busy time that is (another sad excuse for my tardiness in the forums, but it’s so very true). Once the summer hits, I can happily channel all my energy into having a blast in the experience of working at RBC!
\n
\nInteresting facts?
\nI lived in Europe for six years (France and The Netherlands),
\nI play the flute,
\nmy favorite pattern is paisley,
\nthis is my fourth year of learning Mandarin Chinese,
\nand I CAN”T WAIT to find myself once again in the heart of a wooded mountain!

InactiveHey, everyone! So, after hearing Grayson talk nonstop about camp for the last year, I decided that I wanted to get in on the magic! I am going to be a lifeguard at camp, and I’ve been lifeguarding for the past three summers. I’m not sure which age group I’ll be with, and I’ll be working third session.
\n
\nI am about to graduate from high school and I will be attending Appalachian State University (with my sista, yeahhhh) in the fall, where I will be studying Business and Entrepreneurship. I’m so excited to be living in the mountains and soaking up all of the Boone goodness! And I can’t wait to hang out with Grayson and Elizabeth!
\n
\nHere’s some more things about me: Gray and I couldn’t be any more different. For example, my bedroom is a meticulous oasis of organized bliss, while I’m convinced that hers once provided shelter for a family of an unidentified species. Plus, I am a much better dancer than her. I love listening to music (Avett Brothers, Ben Folds, Grateful Dead, Guster), playing lacrosse, working out, and reading James Joyce. NOT. Oh and did I mention that my dancing skills are far superior to those of Grayson? I will host Randall Dance Battles to prove it. I have already gotten her blessing.
\n
\nI am looking forward to meeting everyone, singing songs, eating muffins, and finally getting to experience what Gray is obsessed with. Add me on Facebook!!!! -

InactiveHello everyone!
\n
\nI am really excited to get to spend my 3rd summer at camp this year. I thought my 2nd year would be the last one because I had to graduate college and join the real world…. so overrated!! Anyways, I just accepted an offer from UNC-Wilmington for their Master’s in General Psychology program!! I’m a huge psychology nerd, so you’ll probably see me with some really ridiculous books this summer. Also, I’ll be reading scholarly articles. Who knew grad school gave you summer reading assignments?!?! My goal is to eventually get my PhD in social psychology and teach at a university. I graduated in December of 2009 from Elon University. I just realized tonight that Colleen and I are not only RBC sisters, but also fellow Elon U students/alums, AND sorority sisters. Ridiculously cool.
\n
\nI spent the my first two summers on the Senior Line, which I love to pieces. My second year, I had the amazing opportunity to be linehead, which I loooooooved. This year, I’ll be joining the HUP cabin and making sure everyone gets to eat on time. I am pretty obsessed with camp. I only wish I had gotten to be a camper there. I realized how lame my camp was that I went to as a kid after being a counselor at RBC. I have been both a Nook Master and a Photo Phun teacher. Aimee and I named all the cameras that summer (Phinneas, Phoebe, Phillip, and a bunch of other PH names). I can’t wait to meet everyone and enjoy the magic that is Rockbrook
Good luck to all you students finishing up finals, especially the ones that are graduating college. I promise the real world isn’t as scary as it seems right now. -

InactiveHey everyone! My name is Sarah! It’s going to be my first summer as a counselor at Rockbrook Camp for Girls, and I am so excited to get started. I just finished my Freshman year at Northeastern University in the beautiful (but freezing!) Boston, Massachusetts. I’m definitely ready to come home to that Carolina sun. I’m from Chapel Hill, NC, but my father lives in Miami, FL, so in reality I have two homes. I’m an International Affairs major with a concentration in Middle East studies. I’m learning Arabic now, and it is beyond intimidating haha. I love my sorority, Delta Phi Epsilon. I know I’ll miss my sisters, but I am so excited to meet all of you lovely ladies and to make some great friends.
\nAs a camper, I always felt at home at Rockbrook. I know that returning to camp after all of these years is going to be a truly awesome experience.
\nHere are some fun facts about me:
\n–I love to travel. I’ve been to over 10 countries, including India, France, Argentina.
\n–I’m an outdoorsy girl. I love climbing, hiking, and whitewater rafting.
\n– I love art. I draw with charcoals, and frequent the Museum of Fine Arts right next to my campus probably a little too much.
\n
\nCan’t wait to meet you all! -

InactiveHello all! My name is Bailey and I am sooo excited to be working at Rockbrook this summer. I’ve never been a camp counselor before but I loved it when I went to camp as a kid and have always wanted to do it. A little about me, I graduated from Florida State University last May and currently live in Fayetteville, NC. I have a dog named Sampson who is just as playful as he can be (he’s only a year old). I had to leave him with my parents for the summer to be at Rockbrook and I miss him, but they live at the beach so I know he’s having a good time! I’m so excited for orientation and camp to start so we can all get to know each other, May 29th can’t get here fast enough!! See you ladies in a few weeks!

InactiveHey y’all! My name is Stephanie! I’m from Augusta, GA and I’m a rising sophomore at the University of South Carolina. This summer will be my eleventh year at Rockbrook and I can’t wait for it to start! When I was a camper my favorite activities were WHOA, hodge podge, sports, photography, and archery. Currently, outside of camp I like to stay active by playing sports or just by walking the dog, watch movies and good television, read, and see what Prince William and Kate are up to. I can’t wait to see “old” counselors and staff and meet the new at orientation! See you soon everyone!
