Whitewater paddling is a summer adventure camp activity with strong popularity at Rockbrook. From it’s earliest days, Rockbrook camp has had a rich history on the rivers of western NC. Offering instruction in both canoeing and kayaking, Rockbrook was one of the earliest summer camps paddling the area rivers.
The French Broad, which borders the camp property, provides beginner-level experience. The Green and Tuckaseegee Rivers offer rapids and skill-sharpening opportunities. As girls become confident in their river maneuvers, the Nantahala and the Chatooga Rivers offer greater challenges. Our adventure summer camp program is unique among girls camps in that all campers, beginning with the middler age group, are offered the opportunity to whitewater raft the Nantahala and spend the night at one of our own outposts near the Appalachian Trail. Rockbrook has one of the few private permits to operate on the Nantahala and maintains its own equipment and trains guides for theses popular trips.
